What Is Rocky Mountain Power’s Net Metering Rate Now?

Current Rocky Mountain Power export credit rules for new residential solar customers in Utah and how they affect system design.

How does Rocky Mountain Power net metering work?

Rocky Mountain Power no longer offers 1:1 net metering for new residential solar customers. Exported solar is credited at the “export credit rate,” which is less than full retail. The exact rate is set by the Public Service Commission and adjusts over time. The practical effect: systems should be sized closer to your own consumption, and battery storage often improves economics by letting you self-consume more of what you produce.
